Distinguishing features

A long, thin chiton with reduced and well-separated dorsal plates, pink/brown with some darker bands. Found in rubble. The species name has been applied because Hutchings and Peyrot-Clausade (1988) recorded it at Lizard Island. However, a similar-looking species, Cryptoplax larvaeformis, has been recorded elsewhere on the Great Barrier Reef. Specialist identification is required.
