Distribution and habitat preferences

Found around rocky reefs, among large macroalgae and on seagrass beds. Does not appear to form large aggregations as displayed by the Port Jackson Shark, although they can be observed together occupying the same habitat. They are nocturnal and tend to hide under rocky overhangs, in gully's and caves during the day.
