Distribution and habitat preferences

Adults often aggregate in large numbers, juveniles more solitary, inhabiting offshore reefs, coastal bays, harbours and estuaries.

Behaviour

It is an inquisitive species that will often approach divers, swimming right up to masks. If you gently stir up sediment with your fingers they will often investigate the area afterward!
