Interesting facts

  • The pistol shrimp has one large claw which has adapted itself into a gun. It closes so quickly that it shoots out three different types of waves. A jet of water that travels close to 100km/h, a sound wave that is as loud as a jumbo jet and pressure wave that can implode bubbles of air. Scientist are not sure which wave or which combination of waves is responsible for stunning or killing its prey.
